Dealing With Light Burn On Marijuana Plants

Marijuana plants only need just enough light for healthy growing. If your plant gets too much light, it will display evidence of stress near the areas where the light was received. The leaves will have yellow or brown spots with burnt tips, and the outskirts will stay green. You will be able to tell where it is getting too much light because the leaves will appear burnt.

Light bleaching, aka light burn, will cause your plants to become albino as a result of strong LED’s and HPS lights that are situated too close to the top of your plant. In this situation, your plant will end up getting an excess of light.

Light bleaching lessens your buds strength and vitality, and could lead to there being no THC present. How do you prevent it? You will need to make sure you never overdo it with the lights!

When growers say a marijuana plant with light burn is “white cannabis” or “albino cannabis” this is not a good thing. Your plant turning white just means that it is in bad shape, which is the last thing you want to happen.

If for any reason you believe your marijuana plants are receiving way too much light, try moving the light further away from the top of your plants. What about the sun? Well, light burn from the sun is almost never heard of because they will never be close enough to sunlight for this to happen. However, when relocating your plants from indoors to being out in the sun, they could start showing signs of light burn since they have not had time to adjust to this source of light.

When you are changing your plants environments, be careful and take your time. That way, you don’t end up making the experience stressful for your plants.

Keep the overall atmosphere and temperature steady to ensure your plants stay happy. Remember, if it is too hot to you, then most likely it is the same way for your plants. When it comes to outdoor growing, you need to do your research to better understand how to handle heat outdoors.

Some symptoms of light burn include edges that look burnt, pale leaves, green leaf veins, and damaged newer leaves. You may even see brown spots on the leaves.

When it comes to indoor growing, you don’t want to give your plants excess light. Marijuana plants only require a certain amount of light to get good results. You can improve the issue by either getting rid of some of the lamps or by distancing them from the top of the plants. One thing is for sure, you don’t want to turn your plants into “albino cannabis”.
