They can also be used with spinner beads or terp pearls for added effectiveness. Using a carb cap is very simple and is a hassle-free component of your usual dabbing routine, which can be broken down into 3 easy steps: Add the concentrate to the nail or banger. Cap the dome with the carb cap to trap the concentrate. Adjust airflow by closing and opening the cap until you find the perfect level. It's as straightforward as that!

What is a Carb Cap?

A carb cap is an accessory that attaches to a dab rig to help to control airflow and deliver low-temperature dabs. Carb, refers to the word carburetor, regulating the air within the rig, just like a car engine. These caps can come in a wide range of designs, materials, and styles but they all serve the same purpose.

The cap is placed over the dab nail or banger so it is completely covered, trapping the heat that is generated when burning the THC concentrate. The trapped heat means the concentrate takes longer to cool and ensures that it is thoroughly burned.

They are made from the same materials as a dab nail or dab banger, commonly ceramic, titanium, and glass. Although higher-quality carb caps are made from Quartz. Silicone and metal caps are also available.

The different types of Carb Caps

Directional Airflow Carb caps
A directional carb cap (also known as a spinner carb cap) works well with both angled and flat top bangers. They feature an angled tube in the middle of the cap that uses directional airflow for more effective vaporization.
Directional carb caps can also be used in conjunction with terp pearls. The controlled airflow causes the terp pearls to spin in the banger and help with the vaporization process.
Bubble Cap
The bubble cap works best with a flat top banger. It has a bulbous body with a straw on the bottom and at the top that you can swirl around the banger to push the heated concentrate around with ease.
Standard carb caps
Standard carb caps work better with domeless nails and are often equipped with a dabber (dab tool) on top to place and divide the wax into the nail.
Combination Carb Caps
Combination Carb Caps are usually made from titanium and come pre-attached to the dab tool, allowing you to quickly cap the dome as soon as the concentrate has been added, ensuring only a minimal amount of vapor and heat is lost.

All you have to do is soak it in isopropyl alcohol for a while. If it is really dirty, try adding some coarse salt as an abrasive. Afterwards, rinse with warm water and towel dry, or leave it to air dry and you are ready for the next sesh.
